Artist
Claudio Bonanni was born in 1960 in Tivoli (Rome). After having accomplished his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1986, he moved to Paris in order to learn from the great masters Pio Santini, Ernest Kronberg and Lauri Leppanen. - It was at that time that he felt the need to deepen his knowledge of the Impressionists, in particular about Pissarro. In 1989 Claudio Bonanni moved to Udine, where he met the great master Fred Pittino, whom he would visit regularly in his studio. Thereafter he developed further significant relations with important masters such as Franco Polizza in Rome, Ottavio Mazzonis in Torino and Ugo Guidi in Bologna. Bonanni’s preferred subject matter is “Mediterranean” landscapes and their seasonal changes – a theme he developed a passion for ever since he went on a trip to Friuli, yet during the years he’d eventually extend the subject matter to portraits and sea landscapes. He depicts his “Mediterranean” scenes poetically and with remarkable detail and expression, which he achieves through the use of vibrant colours and texture. Bonanni thus reveals sensations of ”enchantment” and “harmony” whilst visualizing breathtaking scenes of Capri, Positano and the Amalfi coast. His numerous collective and one-man art exhibitions include: Villa d’ Este (Tivoli), Roman Gallery, Mauterndorf Castle (Austria), Graf Bobby Salon in Vienna, Italian Pavillon (Tokyo), The Atene Culture Institute, Ancient Arsenals (Amalfi), Gallery “ La Fenice “ (Udine), the Municipal Gallery “ Le Logge “ (Assisi), the Sappada Municipal Gallery, the Trieste Municipal Gallery and the old Church S. Michele Arcangelo (Tivoli). Every solo exhibition of his has been an outstanding success and has been considered as such by both, critics and the public.
